Ex-PSG Boss Keeps Door Open for Mbappé Stay Amid Real Madrid Transfer

Kylian Mbappé’s contract expires in June, and he will reportedly leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Many expect the Frenchman to join Real Madrid, but nothing is official, and one former coach isn’t ruling out the 25-year-old having a change of heart.

The Parisians currently have an opportunity to win the treble this 2023-24 season. PSG sit atop Ligue 1, will face Olympique Lyonnais in the Coupe de France final, and have a UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie against FC Barcelona.

As a result, if the capital club secures all three trophies, could the player decide to build on it rather than leave? Former PSG manager Luis Fernandez spoke with SPORT and noted that he sees Mbappé fitting well into the Real Madrid squad. However, Fernandez also left the door open to seeing the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner stay.

“Will he find his place at Real Madrid? Yes, because he is very good, but Real Madrid have great players,” Fernandez told the outlet (h/t Le10Sport). “We will wait until the end of the season. Let’s see what happens… PSG will win the championship and are in the final of the Coupe de France. And if PSG wins the Champions League… I won’t rule anything out.”

It will be interesting to see what Mbappé decides if the team does win three trophies to end the season. Still, he could also see this as a parting gift.
