Ex-Barcelona Star Primed to Leave His Mark Against Former Club

It’s been just under a year since Ousmane Dembélé departed from FC Barcelona last summer while they were on their tour in the United States. The 26-year-old has a chance to deal a major blow to his former club in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie.

Despite the transfer occurring a few months ago, the wound remains fresh, and it’s about to be reopened with Barcelona facing Paris Saint-Germain. Ahead of the contest, Juan Carlos Unzué spoke with Mundo Deportivo and noted that he expects the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to have an impact.

“He’s making an impact in every game,” Unzué told the Spanish media outlet. “He may make mistakes, but he’s fearless, always looking to make a difference with his skills. His dribbling ability and unpredictability cause chaos for opponents. If only his decision-making in the final third was more consistent, Barcelona would be in a better position.”

Dembélé will get booed and whistled when the matchup shifts to Barcelona, but the player could have the last laugh if he performs up to his standards this season. The forward has transitioned to a creator and is racking up assists. If the winger generates a couple of goals over the 180 minutes, it will sting the Spanish side.
