Details of PSG’s Champions League Semi-Final Tie Revealed

Paris Saint-Germain accomplished something that few thought they could do, and that was battle back from a two-goal deficit on aggregate in Spain to defeat FC Barcelona to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Ticketing

Many PSG supporters are already booking their flights and looking for tickets, as it was recently revealed that Les Parisiens will travel to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund on May 1. The second leg of the tie will be at the Parc des Princes on May 7, and all of Paris will be searching the official PSG website and other ticketing sites to be there in person.

The last time PSG reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, it was during the pandemic, and no fans were allowed in the stadium. This is a momentous occasion and it could also be the last Champions League match for superstar Kylian Mbappé in a PSG shirt as he is expected to leave for Real Madrid in the summer when his contract expires.

Preparing for Dortmund

Luis Enrique, PSG’s manager, should be able to prepare for Dortmund adequately. The two sides faced off earlier this season in the group stage. The reigning French champions defeated Dortmund 2-0 at the Parc des Princes, and then battled to a 1-1 draw at the BVB Stadion in Dortmund to secure a place in the knockout stage of the tournament.

PSG should be the favorites heading into the tie. Mbappé is in incredible form having scored two goals to complete the comeback victory against Barcelona, and he’ll want to reach the final in his final season at PSG. Vitinha is another player who has been phenomenal this season. The Portugal international has developed into PSG’s best midfielder and he is crucial to PSG keeping possession, creating goalscoring opportunities, and scoring himself as we saw against Barcelona when his blast from distance leveled the tie on aggregate.

Importance of reaching the final

For PSG, that first match against Dortmund will be critical. If they can escape with at least a draw, their chances of advancing increase tremendously with the second leg in the French capital.

The last time PSG reached the Champions League final was in 2020, when they faced off against FC Bayern Munich. In that match, PSG lost 1-0 after former player, Kingsley Coman, scored the game’s only goal. Since then, PSG have been searching for a way to return to that match and they have a great opportunity against Dortmund.

If PSG happens to advance past Dortmund, they’ll face the winner of the Bayern Munich and Real Madrid tie. Both would bring about incredible storylines, and PSG supporters hope for the opportunity to either get revenge on Bayern, or win their first Champions League title against the team Mbappé is likely to join in the summer.
