Nonetheless, the profile touches on the role current Chelsea defender Thiago Silva played in the 29-year-old’s career. In an interview with the French media outlet, Marquinhos’ brother, Luan, reveals why the center-back chose to join PSG.
“Marqui, he had several offers before coming to Paris,” Luan said. “Thiago Silva, he’s his idol, he’s number 1. That’s why Marqui chose PSG.”

Furthermore, Silva, who played for PSG from 2012 to 2020, even appeared on the profile of Téléfoot and shared an emotional message. He notes what it meant to him to help play a role in Marquinhos’ career, as the veteran defender and compatriot aided the player in his development.
“I know how much you fought, how much you struggled, [and] how many sacrifices you made,” Silva said. “I’m super happy to have been part of this trajectory.”

In a separate interview, Marquinhos’ brother also revealed who the Parisian captain’s friends were at the club, referring to Silva and Neymar Jr. and how their exit from the club affected the player. Silva left PSG in 2020 and joined Chelsea while Neymar left last summer for Al-Hilal.
