The center-back position is an area on the squad that Paris Saint-Germain will likely improve this summer transfer window. During the January transfer window, the Parisians added Lucas Beraldo and are now battling Chelsea for a talented French defender.
PSG’s depth at center-back has been tested toward the end of the year, with Presnel Kimpembe unable to return from his injury. Milan Skriniar has also dealt with an injury, but there’s also the underperformance. As a result, the Ligue 1 side probably wants to improve the position.
TEAMtalk reported on Tuesday, citing sources, that Chelsea and PSG are keen on RB Leipzig star defender Castello Lukeba. The 21-year-old left France last summer when Leipzig came calling, with the Bundesliga side paying €34 million for his services.
With the amount that the Bundesliga side paid, they want to recoup the sum invested and secure a profit on the player who is under contract until 2028. Transfermarkt put Lukeba’s transfer value at €40 million, but it could be more if Chelsea and PSG are battling for the player.
The center-back has really made a name for himself at Leipzig this season, becoming a key player. He’s been on the field for 37 matches across all competitions. In the Bundesliga, he’s played the full 90 minutes in 19 out of Leipzig’s 30 matches, and he’s also been a standout in their Champions League run.
