Despite losing 3-2 in the first leg to FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé was one of the bright spots. The Frenchman scored against his former club to level the scoring at 1-1 during the match.
As Barcelona faces PSG in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, old wounds from Dembélé’s exit from the Catalan side are being opened. A report from Diario AS (h/t Le10Sport) revealed that the Spanish giants had no intention of letting the 26-year-old leave.
According to the Spanish media outlet, Barcelona tried to extend Dembélé last season. Tired of the soap opera, the Catalan side leaders even issued an ultimatum to the French international to obtain his definitive answer quickly.
Ultimately, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner did not extend his commitment and joined PSG during the summer transfer window. The former Stade Rennais player has returned to France and is having an excellent first season in Paris. The winger has filled the creator void that was left open following the departures of Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. this past summer.
