Xavi Faces Crucial Midfield Dilemma as Barcelona Gears Up for PSG Showdown

FC Barcelona still have questions regarding their midfield less than 24 hours before the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie against Paris Saint-Germain.

On the Spanish side, the main storyline is the availability of two key midfielders: Frenkie De Jong and Pedri. However, there’s another situation brewing about whether Andreas Christensen can play from the start.

SPORT’s Toni Juanmartí reports that manager Xavi Hernandez has not decided between Christensen and Sergi Roberto as the starting central defensive midfielder against PSG. Christensen would be the normal starter, but he is still not 100 percent fit.

De Jong will have the green light to play against the Parisians, and everything indicates that he will get the start for Barcelona. However, the same situation cannot be said for Pedri as the Spanish player’s participation is complicated.

Pedri’s absence and Christensen’s possible non-starting of the match will be hurdles that Xavi and his team will need to overcome to ensure they leave the French capital with a positive result.
