Barcelona to Face ‘Different’ Former Player in UCL Clash Against PSG, Journalist Says

Paris Saint-Germain will welcome FC Barcelona on Wednesday for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie. One of the stories in the matchup is Ousmane Dembélé facing his former club.

Dembélé left last summer to join the French giants, where it’s been a rollercoaster season for him. Furthermore, one Spanish media outlet notes that the Spanish giants will face a player who is different from the one they grew accustomed to during his seven years with the Catalan side.

Mundo Deportivo’s Gabriel Sans writes that Barcelona are facing a Frenchman who has rebranded himself as a creator.

“Barça will encounter a different Dembélé, who, while not shining as much as expected, has been important for the French team, staying away from the infirmary except for some occasional discomfort in a thigh and a minor hamstring strain,” Sans wrote.

“He has participated in 34 matches, and although he has only scored one goal this season, he has shown himself to be a specialist in providing assists.”

Before the first match, Jonathan Johnson from CBS Sports talked with PSG Talk and pointed out that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner could be crucial to Paris Saint-Germain’s tactical strategy. Dembélé, who previously played under Xavi, could potentially provide some valuable insights.

It will be interesting to see if the winger does prove valuable in giving these details to his new teammates.
