Barcelona Superstar Unlikely to Feature in First Leg of UCL Clash Against PSG

Saturday was a crucial day for FC Barcelona midfielders Frenkie de Jong and Pedri. According to reports, this training session would’ve given Xavi Hernandez an indication of whether these two will be first for the UEFA Champions League first leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

There’s good and bad news about these two players. Diario AS reported on Saturday the status of how those within the Spanish club are feeling about de Jong’s and Pedri’s chances of playing this Wednesday.

According to the Spanish media outlet, the good news on the Dutchman is that the outlook with de Jong is excellent. As a result, his inclusion in the squad is almost certain. It will be up to Xavi to decide whether he starts in the lineup or on the bench.

However, the outlook for Pedri isn’t so good. The report notes that Pedri didn’t complete the training, doing little more than half, whereas de Jong not only finished the session but did so with good sensations.

Thus, everything indicates that the Spanish player won’t be included in the squad for the Champions League quarter-final first leg. There was no rush with Pedri as the club is very aware that the priority is for him to recover well. The question now is whether Pedri can play the second leg.
