Paris Saint-Germain said goodbye last summer to one of their mainstays in the midfield, Marco Verratti. The Italian left the capital club to join Qatari side Al-Arabi. However, after one season in Qatar, the veteran could return to Europe.
Al-Arabi reportedly spent €45 million on Verratti as he closed his chapter with PSG after 11 years in the French capital. FC Barcelona was keen on the player in the past, but the Parisians never sold the 2020 UEFA Euro winner to a European club.
Nonetheless, SPORT reports that Barcelona are interested in signing Verratti after the midfielder has spent one season in Qatari football. The Catalan side landing the player will depend on the asking price that Al-Arabi wants for the player.

The 31-year-old has a contract until 2025, and Transfermarkt puts Verratti’s transfer value at €25 million. As a result, it will be interesting to see whether the Qatari side want to recoup money for their investment in Verratti and whether Barcelona has the funds to pay the amount while attempting to improve the team in other areas.
