Why Barcelona Might Hesitate to Start Star Midfielder in Second Leg Match Against PSG

FC Barcelona will be missing two key players in the return leg against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. The Catalan side secured a 1-0 win over Cadiz on Saturday and can now turn its focus back to PSG.

One of Barcelona’s major concerns is their midfield. Andreas Christensen and Sergi Roberto are suspended for the match due to yellow card accumulation. As a result, manager Xavi will have to decide: Is Pedri ready to play a full 90 minutes?

Pedri came off the bench against PSG and did the same against Cadiz, so he’s beginning to get into game shape following his recent injury. However, Diario AS reports that at Barça, they won’t risk exposing a footballer’s physical condition, especially one who has been pushed too hard in recent years.

Pedri has played through injuries and doubts caused by pressures from within the club before. Neither side wants to repeat that experience, which could result in a setback for the player.

With suspensions limiting their options, Barcelona will probably have to roll the dice and play Pedri from the start. PSG reportedly intends to play this match with a chip on their shoulder after their disappointing first leg.
