Barcelona Midfielder Cleared to Play, but Setback Hits Another Player

FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are one day away from kicking off the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie. On the Spanish side, the main storyline is the availability of two key midfielders: Frenkie de Jong and Pedri.

Diario AS reported on Saturday the status of how those within the Spanish club are feeling about de Jong’s and Pedri’s chances of playing this Wednesday.

As the game is now a little over 24 hours away, there’s new information regarding the status of Barcelona’s two star midfielders. Diario AS’ Javi Miguel revealed the latest on de Jong and Pedri.

According to Miguel, everything indicates that de Jong will receive the medical green light for the PSG match and he could even start. The report aligns with what was reported on the weekend, and the outlook with de Jong is excellent.

However, the same situation cannot be said for Pedri as the Spanish player’s participation is complicated. The report from this weekend also revealed that Pedri didn’t complete the training, doing little more than half, whereas de Jong not only finished the session but did so with good sensations.
