FC Barcelona defender João Cancelo was one of the antagonists for the Catalan side in the 4-1 second-leg loss (6-4 on aggregate). The defender made two crucial mistakes, leading to Paris Saint-Germain’s goals. Now, Barcelona’s elimination at the hands of the French giants has made some reconsider his future.
In the first half, Cancelo was caught napping defensively and lost track of Ousmane Dembélé, allowing the Frenchman to score. Then, in the second half, the 29-year-old fouled Dembélé inside the box, and the capital club had a chance to take the lead.
Kylian Mbappé scored the penalty kick, giving PSG a 3-1 lead in the match and a 5-4 lead on aggregate. As a result, SPORT’s David Bernabeu Reverter reports that some people close to club president Joan Laporta have advised him to reconsider permanently signing Cancelo after his performance against PSG.
