Barcelona Have Edge in UCL Tie as PSG Play in ‘Very Weak League,’ Ex-Player Says

Paris Saint-Germain have games before the first leg of their UEFA Champions League tie against FC Barcelona. However, despite playing contests heading into the first encounter, one person believes that won’t be helpful for the Parisians.

Ligue 1 doesn’t get the respect of football fans and pundits, which is why some label it a “farmer’s league.” One ex-player and the father of former Barcelona prodigy Bojan Krkic, Bojan Krkić Sr., believes that this could be PSG’s downfall ahead of the clash against the Catalan side in an interview with Cadena SER

“PSG plays in a very weak league; in the Champions League, they struggle,” Krkić Sr. told the Spanish media outlet (h/t Sport.fr). “On Sunday night, I was surprised to see, after a player was sent off, Olympique de Marseille playing so high and giving Parisians, whose lethal weapon is the counter-attack with Mbappé, Dembélé, [and] Kolo Muani, a significant advantage. In the Champions League, that won’t happen.”

Notwithstanding Krkić Sr.’s views on Ligue 1, PSG has the strategic prowess of Luis Enrique on their side. The Spanish boss, known for his tactical brilliance, has already shown his magic with the team, setting the stage for an exciting clash.

Furthermore, the 53-year-old intends to keep using the element of surprise to have the opposition on their toes. This past weekend, the Spanish manager had Ousmane Dembélé in midfield in a more central role.
