There’s no official announcement yet about Kylian Mbappé and where he’ll continue his career. The 25-year-old is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent, and many anticipate he’ll join Real Madrid.
Many are likely asking themselves when this will all become official. RMC Sport’s Jerome Rothen spoke about why and when the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will announce his decision to leave PSG and join Real Madrid.
“Mbappé will sign for Real Madrid, no I don’t tell anyone anything new,” Rothen said (h/t Diario AS). “He will announce it before the Euro , when Paris Saint-Germain is eliminated from the Champions League or when Real Madrid is eliminated. As long as there is the possibility of seeing a PSG-Real Madrid, he will not announce anything.”
With PSG in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals and a reasonable path to the final, it comes as no surprise that Mbappé wants to wait until the tournament ends for the Parisians.
The forward has a chance to endear himself to Real Madrid supporters if he helps lead the French giants past FC Barcelona and puts in another memorable performance against Real Madrid’s biggest rival.
Nonetheless, it’s a matter of time until the decision is announced, but for PSG supporters, may that announcement come in June, meaning the club would be in the Champions League final.
