Paris Saint-Germain’s potential UEFA Champions League quarterfinal opponents are becoming more apparent. One possible opponent is FC Barcelona, and a correspondent stated how a potential matchup would fare.
PSG and Barcelona last met in the Round of 16 in 2021, with the capital club advancing following a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappé. The Ligue 1 side would make it to the semifinals, eventually losing to Manchester United.
If both teams were to play in the quarterfinals, L’Equipe’s Tracy Rodrigo stated who has the edge. Rodrigo believes that Barcelona holds the advantage in the midfield over PSG but notes that the French giants are superior to the Catalan side in other aspects.
“I think Barcelona might be stronger in the midfield,” Rodrigo said on L’ÉQUIPE du soir. “They might have more… more… more strong midfielders and could dominate PSG in midfield. As for the rest, I think PSG might be slightly more complete if we consider all lines. But if there were a PSG vs. Barcelona match, it would indeed be very interesting. In fact, some supporters mentioned it to me earlier.”

🗣️ "C'est l'un des meilleurs Barças de la saison. (…) Barcelone pourrait dominer le PSG au milieu de terrain."

Considering all the off-the-pitch storylines, a matchup between these two teams would be intriguing. It would mark the returns of Luis Enrique and Ousmane Dembélé, who likely won’t be the most popular people considering they’re with PSG now.
There are also the Lamine Yamal rumors, and Mbappé is playing against a team he will regularly terrorize should he leave for Real Madrid.
