Paris Saint-Germain will need to replace Kylian Mbappé’s production next season. The 25-year-old reportedly leaves once his contract expires in June. Several names are surfacing, including Napoli standout Victor Osimhen. However, one expert wants the Parisians to discard the file.
The Nigerian scored in the first leg of the contest, but he didn’t factor in the crucial second leg, as Napoli fell 3-1 (4-2 on aggregate) to FC Barcelona on Tuesday night. As a result, the reigning Serie A champion’s run in the UEFA Champions League ended.
Following the loss, After Foot RMC’s Walid Acherchour shared his thoughts on Osimhen and believes that the high price tag isn’t worth it for PSG to pay and have him replace Mbappé.
“Really disappointed with Victor Osimhen’s performance in the match,” Acherchour wrote on Twitter. “He was hardly involved, posed very little threat, and his passing was quite sloppy. This just reinforces my doubts about splashing out €150 million to replace Mbappé if I were PSG.”
Many expect the Nigerian striker to be on the move this summer, with the Serie A side hoping a club will trigger his €130 million release clause. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if any club pays that amount after watching his second-leg performance.
