Achraf Hakimi is rumored to be the next player from Paris Saint-Germain to be on Real Madrid’s transfer wishlist. The Morocco international could be a target for the Spanish giants as they look for a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.
Hakimi has a contract with PSG until 2026, so the Parisians don’t need to worry about the 25-year-old leaving this year. However, the Parisians do have to ponder a contract extension with the player to ensure he stays long-term.
With so much surrounding the right-back, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson spoke with PSG Talk and weighed in on Hakimi’s future amid the recent Real Madrid links, as he could soon join his good friend Kylian Mbappé in the Spanish capital.
“I find it difficult to think that Real Madrid would be able to pull off a raid on any club, let alone PSG, for two players,” Johnson said. “I think it’ll already be painful enough for PSG to see Kylian Mbappé potentially going there.
“So I do think that PSG will do their best to try to keep Hakmi. The one thing that I would say is that I think whatever decision PSG and Hakimi make next, they have to be absolutely sure that it is going to be the best for all parties concerned.”
The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana recently noted that he sees it as unlikely that Real Madrid will pursue Hakimi to reunite him with Mbappé due to off-the-pitch issues Los Blancos might see. Regardless, he does not rule out anything, so it will be interesting to see how this saga plays out.
