Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has struggled this season, and his future was a topic in a recent segment on ESPN FC. The Englishman has been linked to Paris Saint-Germain in the past, and this year could be the time the capital club lands him.
Rashford could use a change of scenery from the Red Devils and the Premier League. ESPN’s Rob Dawson spoke about how viable it would be to see the 26-year-old in the French capital next season.
Dawson notes that those within Rashford’s entourage still have contacts with PSG. However, that relationship would be a one-way street rather than a mutual one.
“There’s already been talking Manchester a little bit about Paris Saint-Germain,” Dawson said on ESPN FC. “He’s been linked with PSG in the past. Obviously, PSG are going to be looking for players to replace Kylian Mbappé. It’s a little bit cooler from the PSG side.
“They’re talking about players like [Victor] Osimhen and Rafael Leão at AC Milan. But certainly, there is that link there. The family has links with PSG [and] that have met PSG representatives before. That’s maybe one to keep an eye on ahead of the summer.”
PSG is exploring various options to replace Kylian Mbappé this summer. However, are they considering the risk of banking on Rashford’s potential instead of opting for a player with established confidence?
Additionally, there’s the notion of acquiring Rashford at a lower cost, given his recent statistics of five goals and six assists in 32 appearances across all competitions this season, in hopes that he returns to his previous level of performance.
How much could the forward cost PSG? Transfermarkt has Rashford’s transfer value at €70 million. While the Ligue 1 side will have money to spend due to the departure of Mbappé, it’s hard to envision them paying that amount.
