PSG Seeks to Exploit Barcelona’s Financial Woes to Secure Wonderkid, Report Says

MARCA reported on Sunday that Paris Saint-Germain’s summer plans included a new name: FC Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal. The club’s keen interest in Yamal demonstrates their ambition for young talent, as seen in their whopping €200 million bid for the 16-year-old sensation.

However, the latest update from transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano debunks that rumor. Romano states that PSG have not officially proposed anything for Yamal, and there are currently no ongoing discussions.

Nonetheless, Spanish outlet Diario AS reports that the Parisians do intend to pursue the teenager, but not at any cost. PSG believe that Barcelona’s delicate economic situation gives them some chance of acquiring the young Blaugrana star.

Although they won’t pay a fortune for Yamal, they will not come close to an astronomical figure for the Barcelona player. The Parisian team has changed its transfer policy for some time now.

The Ligue 1 side does not consider entering a bidding war for any player where the transaction amounts are similar to those of the big signings it made years ago when the Qatar project aimed to recruit the best players in the world, including Neymar, for €220 million, and the philosophy was quite different from today’s.
