Newcastle Midfielder’s Skillset Attracts PSG for Potential Summer Transfer

The midfield at Paris Saint-Germain will receive a boost this summer as they attempt to improve the position. One of the targets that continues to be linked to the Parisians is Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimarães.

PSG will need to begin building a team in the post-Kylian Mbappé. As a result, splurging on a player like Guimarães makes sense. But why are the Parisians so keen on the Brazilian?

Le Parisien reports that manager Luis Enrique wants a new defensive midfielder this summer with good recovery and passing skills, which he considers Manuel Ugarte lacks.

PSG to remain attentive to Joshua Kimmich’s situation. However, a recent report did reveal that the capital club are on the list of teams he wouldn’t want to join. Meanwhile, Guimarães is also among the options. PSG sporting advisor Luís Campos had already reached out to Guimarães’ representatives in January.

Guimarães signed a contract extension with Newcastle last year, and while there’s different reporting on the exact number regarding his release clause, it’s at least £100 million or higher.

Campos and Co. will need to decide whether this is a price they’re willing to pay to ensure Enrique has the defensive midfielder he desires.
