PSG Superstar Expresses Optimism Ahead of Champions League Quarterfinals

Kylian Mbappé was the star of Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-1 second-leg win over Real Sociedad last Tuesday. The victory saw the capital club win the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie on a 4-1 aggregate score.

The capital club advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2021, and Mbappé believes the squad has the potential to do something special this season. The 25-year-old spoke to PSG TV and shared what’s happening behind the scenes with the team.

“We knew it was important for us, for the club, and for the fans to qualify for the quarterfinals after two years of failing in the Round of 16,” Mbappé said (h/t Paris Fans). “It’s important to be back among the top eight teams in Europe. We want more.

“Whether it’s me or the team, everyone wants more. We feel like we can do something special. We’ll see what happens, we’ll wait for the draw. The most important thing is to stay focused on what we have to do.”

Mbappé will probably play his final games with his hometown club this season. Everyone’s focused on doing well in the Champions League, hoping to win it all and let the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner end his time with the team on a high note.

Manchester City are probably the favorite as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have shown signs of weakness this season. PSG may punch their ticket to the semifinals if they get a favorable matchup in the quarterfinals.
