Manchester United Face Cultural Hurdle in Pursuit of Ex-PSG Star for Manager Role

Former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta currently excels in Italy, positioning Bologna FC as contenders for a UEFA Champions League spot next season. Nevertheless, his success attracts many admirers throughout European football.

Before Luis Enrique’s arrival, Motta, previously considered a potential target for PSG, might soon secure a prominent position this summer. Manchester United reportedly contemplates a managerial change at season’s end due to mounting pressure on current manager Erik Ten Hag.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group, the club’s new partial owners, explore options to take on the role. According to a recent report, the Red Devils consider the 41-year-old a candidate for the manager position.

Nonetheless, CBS Sports journalist Jonathan Johnson notes that managing in England and in the Premier League might be too much of a cultural change for Motta.

“I think for me, I find the question of the Premier League more of a cultural one in terms of whether he’d be proficient enough to coach a Premier League side,” Johnson told PSG Talk

“I think he’d have to prepare for a long time before making that kind of move. The obvious next destination for him outside of Serie A would be Ligue 1 because it’s a league that he knows [and] it’s a culture that he knows. He’d be able to sort of hit the ground running.

The former PSG star has only had experience in France, Italy, and Spain, so could he be open to trying something new? It will be interesting to find out since there will be various clubs who could be in on him this summer.
