Paris Saint-Germain took a significant step last summer, adding top French talents like Lucas Hernandez, Ousmane Dembele, and Bradley Barcola. However, one player slipped through the capital club’s grasp: Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.
On Wednesday, Tel inked a contract extension with the German team. However, numerous clubs were closely watching him prior to this decision, anticipating that he might push for a transfer.
Journalist Graeme Bailey from HITC Football reported on Thursday (h/t Le10Sport) that PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal had shown interest in the Bayern Munich forward. However, the player ultimately signed a contract extension until June 2029.
The 18-year-old’s original contract with the French U21 international was scheduled to expire in the summer of 2027. He transferred from French club Stade Rennes to Munich in the summer of 2022 and now looks to establish himself as a top talent at the club.
While striking out on Tel, PSG will continue to look for young French talent. They’re reportedly in the mix for Leny Yoro as their next target.
