Man City Plotting Swoop to Beat PSG for Newcastle Standout This Summer

Paris Saint-Germain will have money to spend this summer, and reports suggest that the capital club are likely to bolster its midfield. However, the Parisians face competition for one player who’s probably to be a top target for them in a few months.

PSG was constantly linked to Newcastle United star Bruno Guimarães during the January transfer window. CBS Sports journalist Jonathan Johnson recently spoke with PSG Talk and noted that the Brazilian is a missing piece in the club’s midfield.

Nonetheless, the Parisians will have stiff competition for the 26-year-old, as Football Transfers reported on Monday, citing sources, that Manchester City are exploring the prospect of making a move for Guimarães.

The information also notes that Newcastle will listen to offers from both Spanish clubs, but for any other team, they must meet the £100 million release clause in full. Paris Saint-Germain remain keen, while a move to Chelsea or Liverpool for Guimaraes is unlikely.

In January, a report revealed PSG manager Luis Enrique’s fascination with Guimarães, placing the Brazilian midfielder at the forefront of the 53-year-old’s plans to bolster the midfield.
