Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique is beginning to irritate the Spanish media with his answers to questions about Kylian Mbappé’s future.
Enrique often doesn’t take the question seriously, sometimes laughing, joking, or smiling while hinting that the 25-year-old is leaving the French capital when his contract expires in June. Many expect Mbappé to join Real Madrid once he becomes a free agent.
Nonetheless, these remarks from the 53-year-old are beginning to annoy one Spanish pundit. El Chiringuito’s Paco García Caridad believes that the PSG manager needs to answer these questions with a more serious tone rather than mocking reporters.
“You must respond because you must be educated when asked a question,” Caridad said on the Spanish program (h/t Le10Sport). “When he doesn’t answer what you want, what you must do, if I were the journalist, I would say stop, I will never ask you another question because you answer as you wish. He doesn’t answer the question. He will use him less in the league and more in the Champions League. He wishes him the best for the future.”
“He doesn’t answer the question. Have a bit of manners and don’t be a constant showman, mocking people. But then again, that’s just how he’s always been. He was like that as a player, and he’s the same as a coach. Is it normal to lack respect for others and laugh in people’s faces? You reply without actually answering my question; I won’t ask for more.”
It appears that the Spanish media is upset that Enrique doesn’t give them the soundbites they crave to run with speculation. Instead, the Spanish tactician treats the issue as a joke.
Enrique’s primary focus for the rest of the season should be ensuring the team is ready to compete for three trophies, not discussing transfer rumors with the press.
