Liverpool, Man City Ahead of PSG for Experienced Versatile Midfielder, Expert Says

Paris Saint-Germain will aim to bolster their midfield this summer as they gear up for a possible life without Kylian Mbappé. One rumored name to improve the position is Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich.

During the January transfer window, Kimmich’s name surfaced, but if the Parisians want the experienced German midfielder, they face stiff competition. Journalist Ben Jacobs provided an update on the file and noted that two Premier League clubs appear to have an edge over PSG.

“Arguably the most concerning potential exit for Bayern is Joshua Kimmich, who has endured a tough season and is heading into the final year of his contract,” Jacobs noted to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column. “Bayern’s new director of sport, Max Eberl, will hold talks with the player.

“Kimmich is open to moving to the Premier League. Manchester City are exploring a move for him and believe he could gel well with Rodri. Liverpool have also been linked but there’s nothing advanced there to date. Barcelona are another club long-linked with Kimmich.

“Bayern don’t want to lose Kimmich but with his contract expiring in 2025 they may be forced to put him up for sale if fresh terms aren’t agreed.”

Kimmich appears receptive to a move to the Premier League as he approaches the last year of his contract at the Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich will need to decide this summer; if they cannot reach an agreement, a sale must occur so the club doesn’t lose the player on a free transfer.

PSG will be a young team next season, so the Parisians might want to add a veteran with winning experience. The question is whether or not they want to get into a bidding war for the 29-year-old.
