Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid are finalizing a contract as the player prepares to join Los Blancos on a free transfer. The Frenchman scored a significant win in the contract talks between the two parties.
Journalist Ramon Alvarez recently provided a new update on Mbappe’s contract negotiations with Real Madrid, indicating that the French striker may keep 90 percent of his image rights in the potential new deal.
Image rights have been a consistent topic of discussion in Mbappe’s contract negotiations. In 2022, he made headlines for a dispute with the French Football Federation after declining to participate in a photoshoot due to a disagreement over image rights.
Even under his contract with PSG, Mbappe receives a substantial portion of his image rights. Originally requesting full control, the Frenchman agreed to become the highest-paid player at Parc des Princes as a compromise.
Nonetheless, as an exit now seems inevitable, Montpellier HSC’s Arnaud Nordin believes the Frenchman’s exit is a setback for Ligue 1. Over the last few years, Ligue 1 has lost major superstars like Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Zlatan Ibrahimović.
