‘In an Ideal World’ – Barcelona Insight to Xavi Replacement Revealed

FC Barcelona will be looking for a new manager this summer, with Xavi Hernandez set to depart at the end of the 2023-24 season. In an ideal world, the Spanish side wants Paris Saint-Germain’s leader on the sidelines.

Luis Enrique had a successful stint with Barcelona from 2014 to 2017, which included winning the UEFA Champions League in 2015. As a result, sporting director Deco would like to recreate the magic from his first stint.

“In an ideal world, Deco’s favorite coach to lead Barça next season is Luis Enrique,” Cadena SER’s Sique Rodríguez said. “Another thing is whether he can be signed or not because he has a contract with PSG.”

However, Enrique is likely a name that’s far away from reality. Diario AS recently reported that the ideal candidates the Catalan side has in mind are all likely unattainable.

According to the Spanish media outlet, club president Joan Laporta will not find it easy to find a front-of-the-line coach. His first choices are getting complicated. Enrique and Mikel Arteta are coaches with contracts at PSG and Arsenal, respectively.

It will be interesting to see what transpires heading into the summer as to whether Barcelona can lure Enrique back to Spain.
