Former Tottenham Hotspur and current Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane found the back of the net twice on Tuesday night. The German side defeated Lazio 3-1 on aggregate to advance to the quarterfinals.
Kane scored a brace in the 3-0 second-leg win this week, and the debate on TNT Sports was about who is currently the best striker currently in football. Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand opted to go with Kylian Mbappé rather than Kane or Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
“Mbappé,” Ferdinand said (h/t talkSPORT). “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. They’re all great. There’s no bad or wrong answer here really, but… Mbappe, man. I’d pay everyday to watch him train let alone play in a match, because he creates things on his own.
“I can give him the ball at left-back and he might score. I can give him the ball anywhere on the pitch and he could create something. The other two not so much. They are great, don’t get me wrong. But Mbappe’s just got that something different that would make me sit up at night and go, ‘Thank you, God.'”
Mbappé propelled the Parisians into the next round, registering a brace in the 2-1 second-leg win over Real Sociedad. The Ligue 1 team would secure a 4-1 aggregate victory, with the 25-year-old emerging as the star over the two legs. Paris Saint-Germain is back in the quarterfinals for the first time since 2021.
Kane and Mbappé might have a chance to battle should PSG draw Bayern Munich as their quarterfinal opponent.
