Fermin Lopez Discloses Barcelona’s Plan to Combat PSG in UCL Quarterfinals

FC Barcelona drew Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals and it’s likely both teams feel that either side can advance to the semifinals. Fermin Lopez is the latest player to weigh in on the two-leg matchup and what it will take to defeat the Parisians.

The midfielder netted a goal in the victory against Napoli, propelling the Catalan side into the quarterfinals and a showdown with the reigning French champs. Lopez is eager to face the former Barcelona manager and noted the dangers that PSG present.

“It will be a difficult game,” Lopez said (h/t Barca Blaugranes). “PSG are a great side, but we’ll do everything can to get the win,” he told the club’s media. Although Luis Enrique was a great player and a great coach, we would be just as motivated, whoever the opposing coach is.

“All the games we have played so far in this competition have been highly competitive, and whatever team we were going to get from here onwards was going to be against a great side. They have very dangerous players up front like Mbappé and Dembélé, If we can control that and play our own game, we can hurt them. The team is on fine form right now.”

Another Barcelona player shared his thoughts on an advantage that the Spanish team has since they’ll host the second leg. João Félix believes that their home crowd will play a factor in aiding the squad.

“I think that playing the second leg in our stadium will be a good thing for us,” Félix said.

The winner of this matchup will play against Atletico Madrid or Borussia Dortmund in the semifinals, putting PSG or Barcelona on track to the final in London. Additionally, the two-match series will feature a showdown between PSG coach Luis Enrique and his former team and mark the return of Ousmane Dembélé.
