Paris Saint-Germain might dip into the transfer market this summer to fill the gap left with Kylian Mbappé’s pending departure. They have a few options, with Victor Osimhen being one of them.
The Napoli sensation is set to make a move, with several clubs competing to secure his goal-scoring services. PSG, as well as Arsenal and Chelsea, are rumored to be in the running.
Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the saga and noted that to land Osimhen, there are no negotiations. Napoli wants the release clause paid if any interested club wants to have the Nigerian striker for next season.
“Guys, there’s nothing new on Victor Osimhen so far despite reports that Arsenal are ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign him,” Romano noted in his Daily Briefing column.
“There is no ‘moving ahead’ because it’s not a proper race. There’s no negotiation with Napoli as there’s a release clause, so it’s about paying that money and reaching an agreement with Osimhen. At the moment, no club is close to that. Interest from various clubs has been there for months, but at the moment we’re not any further along in the story.”
In a recent report from TeamTalk, Osimhen is convinced of his status as one of the top players globally and aims for a weekly salary of at least £200,000. In addition to PSG, Arsenal have also reached out to Osimhen’s representatives as they explore their choices for a top-tier striker.
