Ex-PSG Star Neymar Center of Debate with Liverpool’s Champions League Winner

Were the prime years of Liverpool’s Sadio Mané better than Neymar Jr.’s? A recent debate sparked on X, formerly Twitter, where supporters of the Reds believe that at their peak between the two players, Mané was the better player.

Both players boast a UEFA Champions League title in their repertoire. The Brazilian clinched his trophy with FC Barcelona in 2015, while Mané secured his in 2019 with Liverpool’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Regarding the numbers, Neymar has played 340 matches so far in his career while also battling injuries. On the other hand, Mané has played in 391 games during his career so far.

Even though the 32-year-old played fewer games, the former Paris Saint-Germain star has more goals, having registered 203 goals, while Mané recorded 159 goals. As for the assists, the Brazilian (112 assists) has the edge over the Senegalese star (71 assists).

Football fans will have different definitions of what criteria should be used to determine which player is better. Some will use numbers, while others will use trophies, and then there are the fans who use both.
