Ex-Barcelona Star Eyes PSG Youngster for National Team Amid Contract Expiry

Paris Saint-Germain youth player Ethan Mbappé is at the start of his professional career. However, the 17-year-old must make significant decisions soon, including which national team he wants to represent.

His older brother, Kylian Mbappé, represents the French national team. Nonetheless, would the younger Mbappé be open to representing where his father is from, Cameroon?

Former Barcelona star Samuel Eto’o is the president of the Cameroon Football Federation, and he recently spoke about Ethan during an interview with France 24 when asked about recruiting dual national players to the national team.

“Ethan Mbappé? They say he is very good,” Eto’o said (h/t Le10Sport). “See him play for Cameroon? We ask a lot of players, but to protect all these players, I am not going to name them.

“But much more than trying to have dual nationals, we continue to work to make our championship attractive in order to have locals who deserve to play for our national team.”

Ethan has already made his professional debut with PSG. Still, aside from picking a national team to represent, the midfielder also has to decide where he wants to continue his football career.

The teenager’s contract with the Parisians expires in June, just like his older brother’s. With Kylian reportedly leaving, the next question is whether Ethan will follow. PSG wants to hold onto its talented youth players, but could the youngster be playing elsewhere next season?
