It seems Paris Saint-Germain is gearing up to strengthen its midfield during the upcoming summer transfer window. Rumors suggest that the club has chosen Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United as its top choice for the position.
Nonetheless, they’re expected to face stiff competition to secure the Brazilian player. During the January transfer window, Guimarães surfaced as a potential target for Paris Saint-Germain.
Furthermore, the 26-year-old boasts a €115 million release clause that isn’t a wild figure. As a result, PSG must activate it or approach that amount to secure the coveted midfielder.
Nonetheless, Chelsea are the latest club eyeing the Brazilian, as journalist Graeme Bailey reports that the Blues have Guimarães on their list of players to bolster their midfield this summer.

The English side has several other targets in addition to the Brazilian. Chelsea have long been admirers of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong and PSG’s Vitinha.
It will be interesting to see if the Ligue 1 side can beat out the English side for Guimarães while also holding onto their player this summer. CBS Sports journalist Jonathan Johnson spoke with PSG Talk and noted that the Newcastle star is the missing piece for PSG.
“I think Guimarães is certainly someone who is a really intriguing possibility because, one, he would fit very well in this team at this moment in time,” Johnson said.
Overrated player
It would be a big mistake for PSG to get him. He has an absolute petulant behaviour when playing. Commits fouls constantly. Just unlikeable.
