Earlier this month, Paris Saint-Germain are rumored to be one of the teams eyeing Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres. The Swedish striker is having an amazing season for the Portuguese club, and several clubs are taking notice.
The 25-year-old has scored 36 goals and registered 14 assists in 39 appearances for Sporting this season. The Portuguese publication Record (h/t Sky Sports) reports that one Premier League club is taking an aggressive approach to edge out the competition.
According to the outlet, the Blues have scouted the striker three times in the last three months, the latest being on Thursday, when Sweden lost to Portugal in a friendly. Gyökeres scored in Sweden’s 5-2 defeat to the Portugal national team.
Chelsea have stiff competition from Arsenal, AC Milan, and PSG for Gyökeres, as all these clubs’ names have been in the rumor mill for the Swedish goal scorer.
Gyökeres has a release clause of €100 million, so it will be interesting to see if Sporting decide to set their asking price at that amount or allow for wiggle room in negotiating.
