Former Paris Saint-Germain standout Neymar Jr. could be ready to leave Saudi Arabia and return to Europe. Furthermore, the Brazilian wants to have a second stint with FC Barcelona after what’s been a less-than-ideal time with Al-Hilal, who spent a sum close to €90 million.

Neymar has been out since October after suffering a cruciate ligament tear, and perhaps the time away from the pitch might be making him reflect on his career.

At 32, he’s at the back end of his prime years, and ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Neymar has to prepare for what will likely be his last tournament. As a result, spending another season in Saudi Arabia isn’t the way to prepare for the World Cup.

Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano reports (h/t Le10Sport) that the left winger would welcome the idea of returning to Europe, especially since he had always dreamed of returning to Barcelona. However, Barça would not have planned to repatriate Neymar at all.

Furthermore, Romano notes that the Catalan side is looking for a left winger, but Neymar’s name is not on the table at the moment. If Barça is indeed interested in the Saudi market, the Neymar option would not be considered. Barcelona president Joan Laporta would have received offers from players ready to leave Saudi Arabia, but not yet from Neymar.
