It’s been reported that Paris Saint-Germain is closely watching FC Barcelona’s central defender, Pau Cubarsí. As a result, the Spanish side are away and want to do their best to secure the teenage defender to a new contract with a new release clause fee.
Earlier this month, a report revealed that the capital club sent a scout to observe Lamine Yamal and Cubarsí during the Barcelona-Napoli match. The Spanish defender’s contract expires in 2026, but the Catalan side wants to sign him to a new contract because of his current release clause.
Currently, Cubarsí’s release clause stands at approximately €15 million. In a proactive move, Barcelona has already presented a contract renewal proposal to the teenager, as reported by transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano (h/t Diario AS).
Furthermore, the Italian journalist confirms that the offer includes a €1 billion buyout clause. The La Liga team hope that the agreement can be finalized before the end of the season, as Cubarsí will be one of the key pieces of the project.
It will be interesting to see if any team, such as PSG, makes a move for the teenager this summer or if he decides to extend his contract to scare away any interested suitors due to his new release clause.
