Barcelona Chief Asserts Commitment to Key Players Amid PSG’s Interest

Over the last few weeks, rumors of Paris Saint-Germain leaning on FC Barcelona’s financial issues to pluck a talent or two from the Spanish side who will probably need to sell players to make any major additions.

However, Barcelona president Joan Laporta states that no key players for their team will be on the move this summer.

At the premiere of the podcast “El Podcast del Presidente Joan Laporta,” Barcelona’s top leader confirmed the news: the club rejected a €200 million offer for their homegrown player, Lamine Yamal. However, he didn’t hint at who made the offer for the winger.

“We’ve been receiving offers for players like Lamine Yamal, for €200 million, and we’ve said no,” Laporta said (h/t SPORT). “We believe in the lad, in his sporting potential, and we don’t have the need, quite the opposite. We are in an economic recovery process and already seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

“We’ve had significant offers for Alejandro Balde, Fermín, for Gavi, Pedri, De Jong, Araujo… But we don’t want to sell them. Just with the ones I mentioned, we would be at a figure of 1 billion in revenue. If someone thinks they don’t play enough and wants to leave… but we are very satisfied with everyone.”

It will be interesting to see if this stance remains for the entire summer or Laporta’s tenure as president or if seeing Real Madrid bring in superstar talent eventually leads to Barcelona selling a player or two to raise funds to buy a player of Kylian Mbappé’s caliber or if they stick with the youth players they produce.
