Real Madrid is keen on Kylian Mbappé, but some might ask why Los Blancos are the only Spanish club pursuing the Frenchman. FC Barcelona isn’t afraid to grab a big-name player, as they’ve shown in the past.
Nonetheless, the Catalan team is facing a precarious financial situation. Their sporting director, Deco, pointed out that chasing after the 25-year-old would only worsen their team as it would require significant funding.
“We’ll see what happens,” Deco told Esport 3 (h/t Le10Sport). “It would be a mistake to sell Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo for Kylian Mbappé. That would make the team worse. We would like transfers to balance the team. What I would like is to improve the squad, not worsen it.”
While Barcelona won’t be in the race for the Frenchman, La Liga president Javier Tebas is confident that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will be playing in the league. Tebas recently spoke with transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano about the ongoing saga.
The upcoming weeks will be intriguing to observe as we wait to see whether the winger decides to leave his hometown club for a new adventure with Real Madrid. There’s also the possibility he remains and rejects the Spanish giants once again.
