Paris Saint-Germain could need to find a replacement for Kylian Mbappé this year if the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner leaves as a free agent. Nonetheless, if the 25-year-old does depart, the Parisians have their target in AC Milan’s Rafael Leão.
According to reports, Leão’s inner circle has made him aware of PSG’s interest, prompting him to reassess his future plans despite recently extending his contract with AC Milan until 2028.
So, why would the Portuguese international leave the Serie A side after just signing a contract extension? In his column for CaughtOffside, journalist Rudy Galetti notes that Leão feels at ease in Milan and enjoys the city and the Rossoneri atmosphere.
However, what doesn’t entirely meet his expectations is the club’s technical vision for the future. As a result, it could open the door for PSG to make a move. The push for the Portugal international would be expensive since he has a €175 million release clause.
It will be interesting to see how this entire saga transpires and whether there is any move from PSG’s perspective.
