‘Top Player’ – Ousmane Dembélé Receives High Praise from Rennes Boss

Ousmane Dembélé had a slow start to his tenure at Paris Saint-Germain. However, the Frenchman is taking off and becoming a primary assist player in Ligue 1.

Ahead of the clash between PSG and Stade Rennais on Sunday, Rennes manager Julien Stéphan had high praise for the PSG winger. The 26-year-old has registered one goal and ten assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.

Despite the lack of scoring touch so far, Stéphan is aware of the impact the winger can have in the contest.

“I consider him a top player,” Stéphan said (h/t Le10Sport). “I had a lot of trouble understanding the criticisms of him at the beginning of the season. Even though he didn’t have mind-blowing statistics, he was very impactful in Paris’s game. He has an extraordinary quality in imbalance, dribbling, and execution speed. His ability to use both feet makes him formidable. Ousmane, in his category, there are only two or three players in the world who are capable of doing what he does.”

PSG invested €50.4 million to bring the former Barcelona player on board as one of Kylian Mbappé’s companions for the 2023-24 season. Dembélé recently sat down with Le Parisien and discussed his slow start.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner noted that the transfer from the Catalan side to Paris impacted his performance. Nonetheless, PSG will be seeing the best of the former Barcelona star.
