Real Madrid is the favorite to land Kylian Mbappé now that it’s reported he will leave Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent in June. Although there’s nothing official yet, the Spanish side is confident in landing the Frenchman.
The Athletic reported on Saturday, citing sources, that for weeks, members of the coaching staff at Real Madrid have been expressing a growing belief that Mbappe will join their squad next season.
This confidence has only strengthened this week, even before the reported news of the player’s decision to leave PSG emerged. However, the outlet also mentions that since Thursday, there’s been a tendency to downplay the suggestion that a deal with Mbappé has been finalized.
From Real Madrid’s perspective, there hasn’t been any significant change. They still strongly believe in signing Mbappé, a player they’ve been tracking for years.
Nonetheless, a recent report from Cadena SER revealed that a member of Mbappé’s entourage held talks with Manchester City earlier this week. Furthermore, The Athletic also reported on a “third team” keen on the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
Whether this is just a strategic move or not, the upcoming weeks will reveal more details as additional information becomes available.
