Kylian Mbappé will reportedly leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract with the capital club expires in June. All signs point to a move to Real Madrid, although no agreement has yet been reached.

Nonetheless, if it’s Real Madrid that the Frenchman will be signing with, the next question is when they will announce that they have come to terms on a pre-contract agreement.

RMC Sport’s Frédéric Hermel states that the Spanish giants don’t want to wait until the summer to make any announcements.

“What I was told several weeks ago is that Real would like to announce it in April-May, not before, because of the risk of confrontation in the Champions League,” Hermel said (h/t Le10Sport). “What I am told in Madrid is that Real does not want to humiliate PSG in this story.

“The club wants to consider that it is not Real who steals Mbappé from PSG, but Mbappé who leaves his club after seven years and who is free. Real Madrid has been very forward on the issue and has twice been hit in the face. So they did not want to be in this situation.”

Journalist Ben Jacobs recently reported that Mbappe’s request for a €120 million to €130 million signing bonus from Real Madrid and image rights agreements made the overall financial terms more comparable.

Mbappé also needs approval from Real Madrid to participate in the Paris Olympics. It’s a condition that PSG had already included in their proposal. The salary offer from Real Madrid is notably lower compared to PSG’s renewal offer.

These next few weeks will be interesting to follow. The Parisians remain alive in the UEFA Champions League, and news like this could destabilize the squad.
