Is Paris Saint-Germain downplaying the impact they’ll be facing when Kylian Mbappé reportedly departs this summer? The 25-year-old will leave in June and likely sign with Real Madrid as both parties begin new chapters.
PSG are ready for the post-Mbappé world, but RMC Sport’s Jérôme Rothen believes the Parisians might be fooling themselves if they can replace the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
“In internal discussions, because I’ve spoken with many, they don’t realize the departure of Kylian Mbappé. At least, they try to minimize the loss,” Rothen said on RMC Sport.
“They want several offensive players because you don’t just replace Kylian Mbappé with one player. But the word ‘star,’ I don’t really care about, that’s not the issue. We shouldn’t go from one extreme to another.”
Since reports surfaced that Mbappé intends to leave this summer, AC Milan star Rafael Leao is a name that’s constantly linked to the capital club. Although rumors and opinions are surfacing over how the Parisians will replace Mbappé, that might not happen this summer.
A recent report from RMC Sport PSG’s management ticked off several names, and Leao’s profile is appreciated, but there is no unanimity on his case. The French outlet notes that it does not appear today as a priority track for next season. As a result, the Parisians might roll with their current attack.
