Kylian Mbappé Ties Chelsea Legend in Impressive European Cup Stat

Paris Saint-Germain secured a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad on Wednesday night at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 matchup.

After a scoreless first half, Kylian Mbappé broke the 0-0 deadlock in the second half off a corner kick. The Frenchman’s goal was also his 44th career Champions League goal. It allowed him to tie one of Chelsea’s legendary players.

The 25-year-old is tied for 16th with Didier Drogba in the all-time scoring charts for the European Cup. Mbappé is three goals away from surpassing Sergio Agüero and Eusébio for 14th on the list. Furthermore, the PSG star passed his former teammate Neymar Jr. on the list.

Mbappé will look to continue climbing the charts in PSG’s second leg against Real Sociedad on March 5. Should the Parisians advance to the quarterfinals, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner might not have to wait until next season to tie Agüero and Eusébio.
