Could Manchester City’s Erling Haaland’s recent remarks put more pressure on Real Madrid to land Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé this year?
If the Frenchman decided to reject the Spanish giants again, they’d pivot to Haaland. However, the 2024 UEFA Champions League winner recently said he’s happy playing in Manchester under manager Pep Guardiola.
“I’m happy in Manchester,” Haaland said (h/t Le10Sport). “It’s easy for my family to come from Norway, just across the sea, very close. I like to joke; Norwegians are similar; we like jokes. People leave me alone, to a certain extent.”
His contract doesn’t expire until 2027, so the Premier League has nothing to worry about right now. Nonetheless, those remarks are encouraging for them, but it also might pressure Real Madrid to land the Frenchman this year.
If Haaland is keen on carving out a legacy at Manchester City, perhaps leaving for the Spanish giants might not interest him. Seeing how these two players’ careers play out will be interesting. Will they want to spend their prime years where they’re currently, or is the lure of Real Madrid too much to pass up? Will either player eventually play there?
