Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong Frustrated Over Rumors Amid PSG Links

FC Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong has likely seen his name in the rumor mill, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly interested in the midfielder. However, the constant speculation over his future has left the Dutchman frustrated.

Before Barcelona’s first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match against Napoli, de Jong expressed frustration. The 26-year-old was speaking to reporters and vented his thoughts after reading ongoing rumors.

“Lately, I have been a little angry about what the press in general writes,” de Jong told reporters (h/t SPORT). “Things come out that are not normal. I cannot understand why things are said that are not true. Aren’t you a little ashamed? All this is irritating me a little.

“You talk about my salary when there is a lot of smoke. If I earn almost €40 million… it is very far from what I earn. I will not say figures, but it is not true. I am very happy at Barça; it is the club of my dreams, and I hope I can continue here for many years.”

A recent report from a Spanish media outlet revealed that PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester United monitor the situation between Barcelona and de Jong. The latest information comes from SPORT as they report that PSG are interested in signing de Jong. Furthermore, the platform reveals that the Parisians are willing to pay €60 million for him.

In a recent piece, The Athletic compiled a list of players that the Ligue 1 side should pursue to begin the post-Mbappé years, as the former Ajax player would be an ideal fit for manager Luis Enrique’s system.
