Ancelotti Faces Ego Management Challenge as Mbappé Joins Real Madrid, Ex-Player Warns

The potential signing of Kylian Mbappé will have its issues within the Real Madrid starting 11. While the 25-year-old can play the No. 9 role, his preferred position is out on the left wing, and then there are players such as Rodrygo who could see their minutes reduced.

Former La Liga player Gica Craioveanu noted that it will be up to manager Carlo Ancelotti to manage these egos to ensure the team runs smoothly in Year 1 with the Frenchman.

“It depends on how he fits into a locker room where I think there are already too many egos,” Craioveanu told Relevo (h/t Bernabeu Digital). “Vini will get upset, [and] Rodrygo might not play as much… It’s difficult, and the only one who can fix it is Don Carlo, for me the best coach in the world right now.”

Recently, Cadena Ser journalist Anton Meana noted that Real Madrid could be forced to part ways with a big name this summer. He stated that Los Blancos would need to sell €80 million. Rodrygo is a possible player who could fetch that fee and not have the minutes guaranteed as a starter.

One of the storylines will be how the Italian manager navigates the egos in the dressing room. Nonetheless, it won’t be a situation that Ancelotti hasn’t seen before in all his years of coaching.
