Spanish journalist Edu Aguirre recently shared his bold take on how the Kylian Mbappé transfer will end. He has Real Madrid finally landing the Frenchman, but former Paris Saint-Germain player Luis Fernandez sees the situation ending differently.
Fernandez expressed his confidence that Mbappé will sign a contract extension to remain with PSG. As a result, he believes the 25-year-old will once again decline any interest from Real Madrid and perhaps Liverpool, whose name remains linked to the Frenchman.
“Yes, he will stay at PSG,” Fernandez stated during the “Football Show” on beIN SPORTS (h/t Foot01). “Which is his favorite club? Paris! We need to recall the moment when he would show photos and images of a club that meant a lot to him.
“When I hear the statements from everyone, from the president of PSG, who takes the lead and speaks on the subject, when I see Kylian doing the same after a match regarding a signed agreement, when I see that Paris Saint-Germain wants to invest in this new technical center…
“Today, we have still brought in Randal Kolo Muani and [Ousmane] Dembélé, who are friends that Kylian wanted to have by his side. I think Kylian Mbappé will stay at Paris Saint-Germain next season.”
Former PSG player Grégory Paisley also believes Mbappé will likely choose to extend his contract with PSG. Paisley, in particular, emphasizes that the timing indicates Mbappé’s inclination to stay in Ligue 1. Additionally, he notes the reported finalization of Neymar and Lionel Messi’s departures at his request.
Mbappé’s potential departure from PSG to Real Madrid on a free transfer will likely come with a significant cost. The Daily Telegraph reports that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is seeking an annual salary of €75 million (£64.5 million) after tax, equating to an impressive £1.24 million per week.
